Highland capital management gave the donation through its philanthropic arm Highland Dallas Foundation. The grant matched 50% of funds that was raised throughout the campaign in April. James Dondero said that the grant was answering the call by the Dallas Mayor and the Dallas Police Chief to help address life-threatening issues that were common in the area. The campaign by the Family place was to raise funds to construct the new Dallas Counseling Center for victims of domestic violence. The facility would serve more than 2000 people annually.
