Waiakea Hawaiian Volcanic Bottled Water Continues to Receive Recognition

Many wonder how the very young bottled water company secured a 414 position in the Inc. 5000 list of companies in America. Waiakea made it to the top 500 businesses in America and will be receiving the award alongside other giant companies like Zappos, Timberland and GoPro among other world leading companies. It is evident how the company made into the list. Over a period of three years, it recorded an impressive growth of 1059.30%, making it one of the fastest growing premium bottled water companies. Waiakea will be receiving its award on Oct 10 this year.

According to Emmons, one of the company’s co-founders, Waiakea’s success is an indication that there are other healthy ways a company can grow financially without harming the people around it and the environment. Waiakea prides itself in creating a sustainable brand that is eco-friendly and very active in its social responsibility to the company.

Waiakea water is one of the purest and very rich in minerals. The water is naturally alkaline because it is filtered by the rocks of Mauna Loa, which is one of the world’s most active volcanos. The water originates from snowmelt or rainwater.

Due to the company’s efforts to reduce pollution by packaging its water in eco-friendly bottles, the company is the first water bottling companies to be awarded a carbon neutral certification. The company is one of the world’s greenest companies, not to mention very charitable. Although Waiakea has been operating for a short while since it was founded in 2012, it has received numerous awards. Among the many awards, Waiakea won Best Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative and Best Packaged Water for its role in the society.

Waiakea donates about 5% of its proceeds to the less privileged people in remote places in Africa. For every liter of water sold, the company, in Conjunction with Pump Aid, delivers water to the Malawian people who have no access to clean water. By so doing, Waiakea has played a significant role in reducing child mortality rates in Africa and has given the children a chance to stay in school and learn.
